About the project

I’d known Tilly’s family a little through other connections and had a brief interaction with her once at a pre-COVID wedding at someone's house. Then, about 3 years later once everything had settled down, while I was working for a film agency, in she walks ready to be our new social media guru. Unbeknownst to me, she had become quite the cyclist and the more she worked with us, the more I learned about how talented she was. She’d more or less come from nowhere - her old man got her into riding bikes competitively and, being the natural athlete she is, she took it to a whole other level. Obviously, we needed to make a film about her.

Fast forward about a year and we met for lunch to discuss this film. She was on board immediately, sharing ideas and being so engaged with the process. She has an incredible story, one that isn’t as straightforward as some might think - but that’s also a part of who she is. This film grapples with the expectations of others and finding happiness in what you want to do, not what others would do in your place. Exploring these themes was challenging - we ended up capturing this film over a couple of days, with several pick up shots to help us nail the message we wanted to tell.

Through it all, Tilly was an absolute champion, always dedicated to making the film and telling her story, never missing a beat and always being an incredible partner in the process. When everyone on set is so happy to come along for the ride, it really shows in the end product.
